Commercial Buildings
Commercial Buildings
It is very important that a retrofit design takes into consideration all possible lighting solutions for every candidate fixture in commercial buildings and office environments. CRI's approach to commercial building space design not only addresses office space and common areas, but also provides solutions for supply rooms, electrical rooms, mechanical penthouses, and parking structures.

Most lighting retrofit companies offer as a retrofit solution only a one-for-one T-8 lamp and ballast replacement. CRI's turnkey designs will maximize the performance of the entire building.

We can offer high performance fixtures (such as induction lighting) to replace inefficient high intensity discharge (HID) fixtures in parking structures. For commercial buildings, we can retrofit "load shed" ballasts which allow each fixture to be individually controlled and dimmed up to 50% during peak periods, which substantially saves on energy costs.
We can reduce your lighting electricity usage by 40 to 50% while reducing emissions of harmful greenhouse gases

Distribution and Warehouse Facilities
Conventional designs for warehouses and distribution facilities are centered around 4-lampT-5 high output (HO) or 6-lamp T-8 high-bay fixtures. These fixtures will save on electricity, but they don't maximize the potential savings by themselves.

In Southern California (and soon in other areas) extremely high "peak demand" electricity charges of up to six times the normal rates may apply between noon and 6 p.m. CRI design criteria minimize the effect of these high demand charges.

Some of the many ways to reduce peak charges during periods of high electric demand include:
  • Ambient photo sensors , or light sensitive sensors, placed in strategic areas—
    with safety in mind.
  • Load-shed ballasts, designed to replace existing instant start ballasts in fluorescent lighting fixtures, can be dimmed down to 50% on individual fixtures.
  • Daylight harvesting means using available outdoor lighting when possible instead of artificial lighting.
There are additional opportunities for saving energy costs in docks, office spaces, inspection areas, and other overlooked areas.

Manufacturing Facilities
Manufacturing facilities require sophisticated lighting designs and layouts for the individual tasks being performed. Lighting quality, as well as energy savings, is an important consideration in selecting energy efficient sources. Some plant areas may have caustic environments that require enclosed lighting to prevent fixture degradation. Environments with high ambient temperatures, as well as dirty environments, require specific types of lighting to maintain a safe working environment. Light shielding is another facet of these designs that needs to be addressed.

We believe the best designs for plant lighting are provided by the manufacturers of lighting fixtures themselves. Most retrofit companies are just too small to have the engineering capabilities to provide comprehensive facilities design. Our wholly owned distribution company, California Commercial Lighting Supply, is a direct factory distributor for the best fixture brands made in the United States. We work directly with their sophisticated design teams to provide the best system design for your factory or assembly plant. These designers have provided us with some of the best lighting solutions implemented in our service territory.

Why are Lighting Retrofits Important and a Great Investment?
Electricity is generated mostly by burning fossil fuels that are proven to damage our environment. Lighting retrofits decrease the amount of energy used and thus—help protect our environment.
